Visa & Passport

Tanzania has a straightforward visa process for most nationalities. We strongly recommend applying for an e-visa before travelling to ensure a smooth arrival.

EAC Citizens — Visa-Free

Citizens of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo enter Tanzania without a visa.

Most Nationalities — E-Visa

Apply online at evisa.go.tz before departure. Processing typically takes 3–5 working days. Check the Tanzania e-Visa portal for current fees.

Visa on Arrival

Available at Julius Nyerere International Airport for most nationalities. However, applying online in advance is strongly recommended to avoid delays.

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of departure from Tanzania and have at least one blank page.

Typical Visa Documents Required

  • Valid passport (6+ months validity, 1+ blank page)
  • Completed e-visa application form (evisa.go.tz)
  • Passport-size photograph (recent, white background)
  • Return flight itinerary or confirmed onward travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking confirmation)
  • Congress invitation letter (available from secretariat upon registration)
  • Proof of financial means (bank statement or sponsorship letter)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (required if travelling from an endemic country)
Yellow Fever: A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for travellers arriving from countries where yellow fever is endemic. Ensure your certificate is up to date before travelling.
